Digital rights organizations call on the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission to withdraw the Regulation for Digital, Social Media, and OTT Platforms

On February 3, 2022, the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) published the first draft of the ‘Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission Regulation for Digital, Social Media and OTT Platforms, 2021’. The regulation would introduce traceability within social media platforms' end-to-end encrypted services and limit their intermediary liability protection. An international coalition of over 40 digital rights organizations now call on the BTRC in a March 4, 2022 letter to withdraw and reconsider its regulation. From Human Rights Watch and Internet Society.
