Attorney at law. Obtained his LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws) from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, obtaining an award for his thesis in Comparative International Intellectual Property Law: “Comparative Study between Copyrights and Patents as Legal Means for Software Protection” (1999), under the supervision of Drs. David Rangel Medina and Horacio Rangel Ortiz. He received his LL.M. (Master of Laws) degree from Duke University School of Law. He has practiced law for more than 15 years, recently as an Intellectual Property Of Counsel for a biotech startup located in Maryland, USA, and currently as the IP Partner for a private law firm in Mexico City. He has also worked in the mexican public sector at Fondo de Cultura Economica (Fund for Economic Culture), heading the Intellectual Property Department, as well as for the Mexican Institute for Industrial Property and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Professor of Law teaching Intellectual Property Law, Administrative Law and Public Policy, and Commercial Contracts to LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws) students at the top-ranked private university in Mexico (Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, ITESM). Recipient of the Teaching Excellency Award 2017 granted by the Monterrey Institute of Techonology and Higher Education (ITESM) on May 14, 2018.
Collaborates with WIPO Academy as a tutor for the Distance Learning Program since 2015, He has also participated as a lecturer and moderator at many international academic conferences, seminars and workshops on IP topics, organized by, among other institutions: the Newton Fund, Queen Mary University of London, The Brittish Council, UNAM, ITech Law and The Blockchain Academy.
